Belfast Crown Caps

Belfast Crown · Newsboy Caps

Nobody Buys Just One Of These. So We Made The Second One Cheaper.

Save £5 on two. £15 on three. Free UK delivery.

Nobody plans on buying two caps. It just tends to happen.

One gets worn constantly — to the shop, to the match, walking the dog in weather nobody should be out in. Then a coat comes out of the wardrobe in October that the first colour doesn’t suit, and a second one gets ordered about three weeks later.

We watched it happen often enough that we stopped treating it as a coincidence and started treating it as the offer.

Two caps, £5 off. Three, £15 off. Free UK delivery on both.

But before the offer, it’s worth explaining why the cap is the one people come back for.

Where the names come from

Every colour is named after Belfast industry

Nobody picks names like that by accident.

Harland Black
Foundry Black
Quarry Grey
Shipyard Green
Forge Brown
Deepwater Navy
Charcoal Grey
Steel Grey
Cream Linen
Tobacco Tan

Every colour in the range is named after the work that built the city. Harland after the yard that built the ships. Foundry after the ironworks. Quarry after the stone that went into half of Belfast.

The Harland and Wolff cranes on the Belfast skyline
Harland & Wolff. The yard the black is named after.

That isn’t decoration on a product page. It’s the reason the range exists.

Most things sold as Irish are sold to tourists — green, printed, bought on a holiday, worn once, in a drawer by Easter. There’s a gap between something about a place and something from it, and almost everything in the souvenir shop sits on the wrong side of it.

The Belfast Crown has no shamrock on it. No harp. Nothing printed at all. Just a good cap, with a name that means something to the people who know.

Thirty seconds, three checks

What to look for before buying any flat cap

01
Count the panels.

The original shape was eight, joined at a button on the crown. It’s what gives the cap its full, rounded profile. Most of the high street quietly went to six, or four, because it’s cheaper to cut and quicker to sew. The shape flattens out and stops looking like the thing it’s meant to be.

02
Squeeze the crown.

If it stays crushed, it’ll look wrong within a month. This is where most caps fail.

03
Feel the fabric.

Thin and papery photographs fine and wears badly.

The Belfast Crown was built around all three. Signature eight-panel cut. A structured crown that holds its form after being sat on, packed and pulled back into shape. And a choice between a linen blend at £25 and the Heritage+ soft-touch suede-effect finish at £30.

One size, 56–60cm, sits well across most face shapes.

On the price

People keep guessing three times what it costs

Belfast Crown Heritage+ Newsboy Cap in Shipyard Green
Heritage+ in Shipyard Green. The suede-effect finish is what people price wrongly.

That’s what gets said when someone handles the Heritage+ before they know the price. It’s the finish that does it — velvet-like to the hand, but structured underneath so the crown holds rather than collapsing after a fortnight.

Most caps at this price are one or the other. Soft and shapeless, or stiff and cheap-feeling.

We can price it where we do because we’re not paying for a shop on a high street, a distributor, or a licensing deal on somebody else’s heritage. It’s designed here and shipped from Co. Down, and that’s the whole supply chain.

Before you order

The Practical Bits

How long does delivery take?

UK orders usually arrive 3–5 days after dispatch. Free on any order over £40, and on every two and three-cap order.

What size is it?

One size, 56–60cm, with a structured shape that holds its form. It suits most head shapes without adjusting.

What if it doesn’t suit me?

Easy returns within 30 days for an exchange or refund.

Where does it ship from?

Our headquarters in County Down, Ireland.

Is anything printed on it?

No. No shamrock, no harp, no slogan. That’s rather the point.

One last thing

The one you reach for without thinking.

A cap stops being a purchase fairly quickly. It ends up on the hook by the door, and after a few weeks you stop deciding whether to wear it — it just goes on.

That only happens if it's the right one. The wrong cap gets worn twice and lives in a drawer. The right one gets worn until the lining goes, and then gets replaced with the same thing in another colour.

Eight panels, one size, a crown that holds its shape. Ten colours, all named after the yards that built Belfast.

Most people end up with two. At least...
